Wood Cutting Crew Volunteers Needed - As we are creeping into summer and the new day lodge progresses onward, we are starting to look for volunteers to help with various projects. First of all, we need firewood collected for the winter before it gets too buggy! If you are available and interested, please call 250.344.6523 or kutenai
uniserve [dot] com (email). Below outlines in more detail what this job would entail.
There are several piles around the stadium area but they will be green and we need to get at material that can be used this coming winter. There is a large deck sitting at what used to be the bottom of Dipsy Doodle that should be dry so bucking to size and splitting would be the place to start.
We need a few crews to go up for a few hours at a time and tackle this pile so we can get it under cover. If this sounds like something you would like to be part of please call 250.344.6523 or kutenai
uniserve [dot] com (email). We would like someone to lead the group to ensure we do this safely. Once we have a leader and a list of volunteers, work parties can be arranged. Chain saw experience is necessary but folk will also be needed to move and stack the wood. We are hoping to find the loan of a gas splitter as well or someone to buy us the beauty sitting down at Ringheim's. We are going to need a lot of wood in the future to keep the lodge cozy.
As the building progresses, there will be some other chores we can tackle as members, partly to decrease some of the cost but more importantly to get a little ownership in our lodge. Nothing like a little sweat equity to make you feel like a part of this venture. We would not be where we are today without the thousands of volunteer hours that have gone into something we should be very proud of.
Perhaps you have been keeping up on developments but here's a run down: the parking lot is coming together and the actual building placement has been settled. If you are curious go up and have a look. Take the road into Cedar Estates (just before old parking area) and turn toward the log house that is just above where the yurt was. If you missed it the yurt is down and stored in the cabin and the platform has been moved to the stadium. There is a dirt road to the left of the log house which will take you to the stadium. Be careful not to drive over the stadium so to protect the fledgling lawn.
Looking forward to hearing from you, Wayne M.
