Join us on April 9th when four-time Olympian Sara Renner and local mountain legend and Olympic Torch bearer Syd Feuz share stories at our club's end-of season nordic ski party. Both special guests will be an inspiration to us all as they will share stories with our club and community members.

Participants of all ages can join any part of the events, which start off with "Skiing with Sara" at the Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre trails starting at 4 pm, followed by a fun "Bike or Roller Ski with Sara" starting at the airport at 5:30 pm. The bike ride will end at the Civic Centre where a banquet, presentations, music, a silent auction, slide show and year-end thank you's to sponsors and volunteers will take place from 6:00 - 8:30 pm.

Local resident with Swiss mountain guiding heritage Syd Feuz will share his experiences and stories of the first skiing days in the Purcell and Rocky Mountains back in the 1930's. Golden-born Sara Renner, currently residing in Canmore, just competed in her fourth Olympics in cross-country skiing and it will be a delight to hear about her Olympic journey. This action-packed event is a fundraiser and all proceeds will go towards the club's youth programs. The Golden Nordic Ski Team will collect returnable drink containers at this venue so they will welcome those containers (bottles, cans) brought from home to support the team.

Tickets for the Civic Centre evening cost $15 for adults (18 and older), $10 for teenagers and seniors, and $5 for children under 10. How often do you get a chance to cross-country ski with an Olympian, then bike and have dinner with her too? BUY YOUR TICKETS EARLY from the Golden Gear Exchange to guaranteed supper as there is a limited number of 150 tickets. Also, don't forget to bring cash for the silent auction or buying drinks at the cash bar.

The event organizers expect that many of our club members and their friends will come out for this unique and fun opportunity to celebrate a great ski season, socialize, support the club's youth programs and, above all, hear Syd Feuz and Sara Renner talk of mountains and skiing.
